Nominator's project description

Professor Dr. Illiana Gozes from the Tel Aviv University, Israel Professor Dr. Illana Gozes is an internationally well-known pioneer in molecular neuroscience and neuroprotective drug discovery. She discovered novel proteins crucial for brain development and aging, and invented a new protective drug candidate for the treatment of Alzheimer`s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. During her stay in Germany she will further investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the beneficial roles of neuroprotective peptides with a special focus on oligodendrocytes, the myelin forming cells of the Central Nervous System, and cytoskeletal proteins. Professor Gozes is hosted by Professor Christiane Richter-Landsberg at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg.
